Alex turned a month old yesterday, and he's doing very well.

The experts say that you can make educated guesses of what a foal will look like (conformation-wise) at 3 weeks, 3 months, and 3 years. Well, I took a good hard look at him at 3 weeks (and didn't take pictures! grrr!) and I have to guess that he'll be build like a brick house like his daddy, be well put together, but may have a short-ish thick neck. I'll look at him at 3 months (and take pics this time!) and see then.

I turned mother and son out into a bigger paddock, next to the main pasture and in sight of the house. I love looking out the window and seeing Alex frolicking, grazing, or flat-out sleeping. I hate to put a halter on that cute little head, but he needs to learn. Ken and I had put it on him last week, but took it off after a couple of minutes because I didn't want him wearing it in the stall where he could get it caught on something overnight. Just paranoid I guess.
